During this session, we will explore three solo presentations at the Grand Rapids
Art Museum in an exhibition series that showcases how creativity gives us a sense of purpose,
cultivates resiliency, and reminds us of our shared humanity. This series centers on the art of
three artists whose practices demonstrate the value of creativity informed by experiences of
the justice system. Through hands-on, interactive methods and art-making activities, we will
engage in strategies to explore ideas about community, empathy, human connection, and selfexpression.
