Instructor Bio :Sue Lockwood Summers New This Month: ... a teacher, writer, and speaker based in Littleton, Colorado who has dedicated 20 years to researching and creating effective ways to teach critical thinking skills about media to children and adults. A former member of the National Faculty for Turner Learning, a board member of the media literacy advocacy organization, PRIIME TIME TODAY, and recently an advisory board member for the Public Broadcasting Station serving the Denver area, Sue has been an elementary library media specialist in Jefferson County, Colorado for over 20 years. Sue Lockwood Summers, an instrumental force in the media literacy movement in American classrooms has contributed with top-selling resource books for teachers. Her Changing the World Through Media Education has made a significant impact in the media classroom and her first book, Media Alert!, is a great tool for teachers, parents, church leaders, and others in how the media relate to values and ideals. Summers was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from State University College at Potsdam, New York and a Master of Arts in Media from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.

Instructor Bio :Lyndy has 25 years of teaching experience. She has taught in 3 different districts and in 5 different elementary schools. Her most recent teaching assignment was 1st and 2nd grade at Eagle Crest Elementary. She was on the planning committee when Eagle Crest opened. She also served on the district 6- Traits writing Cadre. Currently Lyndy is Clinical Professor, coaching new teachers who are in the P.I.E. program and teaching n the Reading/Writing block in the Elementary Education program at CU. Lyndy´s other responsibilities in the district include teaching the Units of Study in Primary Writing course. Instructor Bio :Bridget works as the Bilingual Elementary Coordinator through Student Services for the St. Vrain Valley School District. Prior to this position, Bridget worked as a classroom teacher, teaching bilingual second and third grade at Central Elementary in Longmont. Her experience also includes teaching ESL during summer school grades k-5. Bridget has her Masters Degree in Bilingual and Second Language Education from CU Boulder. Her undergraduate work at UNC also centered exclusively around second language instruction. Bridget has particpated in various Professional Study Teams around Spanish 6 Traits as well as helping to create the Bilingual Guidlines for the district. Her guiding philosophy: "Quien sabe dos lenguas vale por dos."

Instructor Bio :Sandra Vázquez has a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Specialty in Spanish; a Master’s Degree in Bilingual/Elementary ESL and an Endorsement in Literacy. She was honored with The Best Should Teach Award from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2004. For the last six years, Sandra has worked as a Reading Specialist, Bilingual Literacy Coordinator, Buen Comienzo Instructor, Consultant, and Spanish Curriculum Developer for the St. Vrain Valley School District.

Instructor Bio :John Zola has taught social studies at the secondary level for 28 years. He is currently a teacher at New Vista High School and Director of School and University Partnerships at the University of Colorado. John has conducted Socratic seminar trainings throughout Colorado and along the front range. John´s classes, whether high school or professional development, are interactive and highly participatory.
