With the adoption of the new Health Education Standards Guidelines in November 2025, many districts are beginning to map out what implementation will look like across grade levels, buildings, and instructional teams. This workshop will guide participants through a practical planning process, adapted from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to support development of districtwide health education implementation.
Participants will:
- Explore best practices for developing a K-12 health education scope and sequence
- Review and prioritize key health standards and indicators
- Examine how a scope and sequence can support curriculum selection and development
- Identify aligned instructional materials and resources
- Discuss strategies to support teacher readiness and implementation
- Begin developing a practical plan (roadmap) for moving implementation efforts forward
Districts are strongly encouraged to attend as a team. Bringing together health educators, curriculum leaders, administrators, and other key partners can help:
- Build shared understanding of the updated standards
- Strengthen collaboration and decision making
- Support consistency across grade levels and buildings
- Create a more manageable and sustainable implementation plan
