The Secondary Literacy & Dyslexia Leadership Roundtable will bring district secondary leadership teams together for a focused, collaborative session to unpack and examine the implications of Public Act 146 of 2024, Michigan’s K–12 Literacy and Dyslexia Law, within middle and high school settings. While the law spans K–12, this roundtable will concentrate specifically on the unique opportunities and challenges it presents at the secondary level.
Participants will engage in guided discussion and strategic planning to clarify how the law’s requirements translate into grades 6–12, including considerations for adolescent literacy, disciplinary literacy, intervention systems, and support for students with characteristics of dyslexia. Emphasis will be placed on aligning curriculum, instructional practices, assessment, and multi-tiered systems of support to meet the needs of striving readers in secondary environments.
