In this two-credit course facilitated by Diane Sweeney Consulting, teacher leaders will learn to implement student-centered coaching, a coaching model that increases teacher effectiveness and student achievement by focusing on student outcomes.
Emphasis will be placed on coaching cycles, using formative assessment data to drive instruction, embedding standards into coaching conversations, and partnering with principals to lead the coaching effort. This is a blended learning opportunity, consisting of five days of face-to-face learning combined with three half-day coaching labs, online interaction and in-district support.
Participants will be expected to implement and reflect upon student-centered coaching practices in their own school setting.
Participants are recommended to have one of the following books (not included in registration fees):
Student Centered Coaching: A Guide for K-8 Coaches and Principals by Diane Sweeney, 2011
Student Centered Coaching at the Secondary Level by Diane Sweeney, 2013
