Participants will learn about the ELA Literacy Standards for History/Social Studies within the Core. An in-depth analysis of the following instructional shifts will be a central part of the professional development-Academic Vocabulary, Text Complexity, Text-based Evidence and Argument, and Writing from Sources. Social studies best practices and examples will be used throughout the session. Time will be provided for participants to use the materials and plan for their classrooms.
