Collaborative Teaching: Making it Work


This online class is a great introduction to the world of co-teaching. It is perfect for any grade level general or special ed teacher, as well as administrator or other school staff. This class is divided in to four main parts related to improving coteaching effectiveness.

Topics covered will include:
• Understanding the terms and do´s and don´ts of co-teaching
• Setting roles and responsibilities and communicating needs in co-teaching partnerships
• Establishing norms and setting time to plan for effective co-teaching relationships
• Understanding the five approaches to co-teaching and evaluating progress

This is an online course. The instructor will closely monitor student participation through log on time, the posting of assignments, and responding to teacher and student postings. Students can access the on-line class 24 hours per day from their computer. This will be a self paced class.

Book needed for the course is available at Amazon.com. We recommend not purchasing the book until you receive confirmation that the course is not cancelled and will be held.

Face-to-face meetings on the date listed below; remaining 24 hours of class time will completed online. Please bring your laptop if possible. If you have taken an online course before, this session is optional.

Cost:
$465 for 3 Drake credits
$255 for 3 relicensure credits
Does not include cost of book.

This course will meet the 3-credit requirement to renew a paraeducator certificate. An official transcript will be mailed to participants upon request. This transcript needs to be sent with the certificate renewal application.
