Foundational Paragraphs Intensive
|
In this workshop participants learn a logical, structured approach to developing foundational paragraph skills for students of all ages. They first discuss the importance of a school-wide approach to writing, with an emphasis on common languageāboth for teachers and their students. They consider differentiated and scaffolded instruction. The central content of the workshop concerns itself with the processes of planning, writing, and revising. Participants have opportunities to generate text as a group and with partners. They discuss the elements of good paragraphs and work to develop strategies to help students meet paragraph requirements. They also examine rubrics for basic and expanded paragraphs and do some analysis of student writing.
