Bites & Bytes for Scholastic Esports: Making Connections Beyond the Classroom

Scholastic esports leverages students' passion for gaming to create interest-driven learning environments that foster academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and school inclusivity. This professional development session introduces educators to the fundamentals of scholastic esports and demonstrates how competitive gaming can be used as a powerful vehicle to drive STEM education, Computer Science skills, and Pennsylvania Career Ready Skills.

Participants will explore the structure of the Pennsylvania Scholastic Esports League (PSEL), including both competitive and club models, as well as inclusive initiatives such as Unified Esports. The session highlights non-gaming career pathways in esports—such as shoutcasting, event management, graphic design, and content creation—and provides actionable steps for establishing a sustainable scholastic esports program within a school or district.
