  • Event Information
Mental Health Services within a School Multi-Tiered System of Support
This session moves beyond the foundations of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to focus on the advanced tiers (Tier 2 and Tier 3) within an Integrated MTSS framework, with particular attention to how mental health supports are embedded rather than run as a separate system. Participants will explore how academic and behavioral/mental health needs are identified, escalated, and addressed together as students move through more intensive levels of support, and will examine a structured problem-solving process for making those decisions.

Time of training: 2:00 to 3:00 PM

Location: Hybrid- CSIU and Zoom, a link will be provided

    Target Audience
Clinicians and related service providers across the region supporting the advanced tier process of MTSS
    Learner Outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
    • Describe how Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports function within an Integrated MTSS framework, including decision rules for intensifying support.
    • Explain how mental health supports are embedded within the advanced tiers rather than operating as a parallel or separate system.
    • Apply a structured problem-solving process (RIOT/ICEL) to analyze a student situation and determine appropriate movement up or down the tiers.
    • Identify common pitfalls in integrating mental health into advanced-tier decision-making and how to avoid them.
