    New Teacher Induction

    8/10 am – New Teacher Induction: Professional Ethics and Level I Requirements
    Participants examine Pennsylvania’s Code of Professional Practice and Conduct, Level I certification requirements, and pathways to Level II. Through scenarios and reflection, educators analyze ethical dilemmas, professional responsibilities, and compliance expectations. Emphasis is placed on decision-making aligned to PDE guidelines, fostering integrity, accountability, and professionalism in daily practice and long-term career growth.


    8/10 pm – New Teacher Induction: Structured Literacy and Blended Learning
    This session introduces structured literacy aligned to the science of reading and PDE expectations for evidence-based instruction. Participants explore phonological awareness, decoding, and language comprehension alongside blended learning strategies. Drawing on ASCD frameworks, educators design engaging, flexible learning experiences that integrate digital tools to support diverse learners and maximize Tier 1 instruction.

    8/11 am – New Teacher Induction: Classroom Management Basics
    Grounded in PDE-aligned frameworks and ASCD research, this session focuses on establishing positive, predictable classroom environments. Participants learn proactive strategies for routines, transitions, and behavior expectations. Emphasis is placed on building relationships, maximizing instructional time, and using consistent practices that promote student engagement, responsibility, and a safe, inclusive learning environment for all learners.

    8/11 pm – New Teacher Induction: Supporting ELs and Parent and Family Engagement
    Participants explore PDE guidelines for supporting English Learners and fostering meaningful family engagement. The session highlights culturally responsive practices, language supports, and communication strategies. Drawing on ASCD research, educators learn to build partnerships with families, ensuring equitable access to learning and creating inclusive environments that honor students’ linguistic and cultural assets.

    8/12 am – New Teacher Induction: Reading IEPs and Accommodations vs. Modifications
    This session builds foundational understanding of IEP components, legal requirements, and instructional implications aligned to PDE guidance. Participants distinguish accommodations from modifications and analyze their impact on access and expectations. Through case examples, educators practice applying supports to ensure students with disabilities meaningfully access grade-level curriculum and demonstrate learning.

    8/12 pm – New Teacher Induction: Technology Integration Best Practices
    Aligned to PDE digital learning guidance and ASCD research, this session explores purposeful technology integration to enhance instruction. Participants examine SAMR-informed practices, digital tools, and strategies for engagement, differentiation, and assessment. Emphasis is placed on selecting tools that support learning goals, promote student agency, and ensure equitable access in diverse classroom settings.

    8/13 am – New Teacher Induction: Assessment Literacy
    Participants develop assessment literacy aligned to PDE systems, including formative, benchmark, and summative practices. The session emphasizes using data to inform instruction, provide feedback, and adjust teaching. Drawing on ASCD research, educators learn to design aligned assessments, interpret results, and support student ownership of learning through clear targets and success criteria.

    8/13 pm – New Teacher Induction: i-MTSS and My Role as Classroom Teacher
    This session introduces Pennsylvania’s Integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (i-MTSS) and the classroom teacher’s role within it. Participants examine Tier 1 practices, data use, and collaboration. Educators will explore how strong core instruction and responsive practices reduce intervention needs and support all learners’ academic and behavioral success.
