Social Media: Improving Student Critical Thinking and Collaboration, Level 2

Examine how social media tools can be used to support deeper learning by students. In this course, collaboration and critical thinking are components of a rich academic experience. Explore how “any” social media tool can play an important role through SAMR (level 3) and Depths of Knowledge. Choose from a variety of tools to investigate, and finally design a collaborative learning experience that encourages students to develop critical thinking. The final assignment is structured so  it can be customized into something you can use in your work with learners.

Course Outcomes:

1. Understand how Social Media tools for professional networking can support instruction.

2. Develop a practical understanding for using the SAMR Model via Social Media tools.
3. Explore and apply usage of Social Media tools for learning at a level 1-3 of the SAMR Model.
