    TRIG’s Device Purchasing professional development September 2017 courses

    Each course is 3 weeks. There is a 4th week when the instructor completes assignments evaluations for those participants wanting course credit.  6-9 SCECH credits are available.

    Each course requires 6 or 9 hours of total work. They breakdown into two parts:

    Part One • Complete the assigned pre-reading and reflections as preparation for the 1st webinar. Approximate time: 1 hour • Attend the 1st Webinar: Either attend the live session OR watch the recorded session. Reflect on the content and dialog. Approximate time: 1 hour • Complete the Post-Webinar 1 Assignment: Work is job-embedded. Approximate time: 1 hour

    Part Two • Complete the assigned pre-reading and reflections as preparation for the 2nd webinar. Approximate time: 1 hour • Attend the 2nd Webinar: Either attend the live session OR watch the recorded session. Reflect on the content and dialog. Approximate time: 1 hour • Complete the Post-Webinar 2 Assignment: Work is job-embedded. Approximate time: 1 hour

Participants will explore how Literacy Instruction and Technology foster critical thinking experiences for students. This course will lay the groundwork for effective instructional strategies that support the foundations of literacy and technology integration.

Driving Question: How can I effectively establish the foundation of literacy instruction with purposeful technology integration?
Outcomes:
• Orientation of stages of decoding (reading) and stages of writing development;
• Exploration of elements of critical thinking in literacy lessons integrated with meaningful and appropriate technology;
• Exploration of the ISTE standards and Michigan Education Technology standards;
• Application of their knowledge toward the creation and delivery of a literacy lesson with technology integration, and;

• Analysis and reflection on their students’ performance on the aforementioned literacy/technology integrated lesson

Webinar 2 Agenda
• Understand the SAMR model
• Explore technology that can be integrated in literacy learning
• Apply technology in literacy lessons meaningfully
