REMC Virtual Courses

    REMC Virtual Courses

    The REMC Virtual Courses are free and open to Michigan school personnel. You can take courses “just to learn” or complete the course and assignments and earn SCECH credits.  All courses are facilitated by Michigan educators. 

     

    Time Commitment: Each course session lasts for three (3) weeks and requires 10 hours of time to complete the work.  This work includes participating in two, one (1) hour webinars OR listening to the pre-recorded webinar plus eight (8) hours for the reading, participation in discussion boards and written reflection. 

     

    SCECHs: 10 SCECHs are available at no cost.

    Welcome Email:
     Your instructor sends a welcome email with course login and other information the Monday prior to the course start date. A reminder welcome email is sent the Saturday before the course start date.  Logging in and reviewing the course structure and calendar prior to the start date works best!


    Technology Requirements:
     A computer device with an up-to-date browser plus access to the internet.

Description: 6 hours of SCECH Credit

Participants explore many elements for game mechanics that can be used for classrooms instruction. The course examines the purpose and use of Gamification and Game-Based Learning and how they each provide rich and unique experiences for student learning of curriculum. The course itself models the Gamification style so that participants receive a deep experience of how Gamification work and they will take part in some games that reflect the Game-Based Learning approach. In the end, participants will develop learning experiences that incorporate Gamification, with the option for Game-Based Learning.

All courses are facilitated by a Michigan educator, last three weeks, consist of two one-hour webinars and, depending on the course, four to eight hours of resource review, assessment development, discussion boards and written reflection.
