REMC Virtual Courses

    REMC Virtual Courses

    The REMC Virtual Courses are free and open to Michigan school personnel. You can take courses “just to learn” or complete the course and assignments and earn SCECH credits.  All courses are facilitated by Michigan educators. 


    Time Commitment: Each course session lasts for three (3) weeks and requires 10 hours of time to complete the work.  This work includes participating in two, one (1) hour webinars OR listening to the pre-recorded webinar plus eight (8) hours for the reading, participation in discussion boards and written reflection. 


    SCECHs: 10 SCECHs are available at no cost.

    Welcome Email:
     Your instructor sends a welcome email with course login and other information the Monday prior to the course start date. A reminder welcome email is sent the Saturday before the course start date.  Logging in and reviewing the course structure and calendar prior to the start date works best!

    Technology Requirements:
     A computer device with an up-to-date browser plus access to the internet.

Empower student voice by supporting their designing, producing and publishing OER content for a variety of audience and purposes. Understand the relationship of Creative Commons Licensing to help students become more informational research literate. Explore how through this student-centered process the MITECS can be infused. Get ideas for how to incorporate these experiences into innovative practices as Project Based Learning, Authentic Learning Experiences, and Design Thinking. Take your students to a new level of 21st Century Learner.

Explore the differences between adapting and creating content
Study the connections with MITECs and 21st Century Skills
Explore the connections with innovative practices including Project Based Learning, Authentic Learning Experiences, and Design Thinking
Explore methods for publishing OER content

All courses are facilitated by a Michigan educator, last three weeks, consist of two one-hour webinars and, depending on the course, four to eight hours of resource review, assessment development, discussion boards and written reflection.?
