Summer Administrative Tour - Introduction to the Science of Reading (2022)
The Science of Reading is a massive body of research that has been conducted over the last five decades across the world, and it is derived from thousands of studies conducted in multiple languages. The science of reading has culminated in a preponderance of evidence to inform how
proficient reading and writing develop; why some have difficulty; and how we can
most effectively assess and teach and, therefore, improve student outcomes through
prevention of and intervention for reading difficulties. We will dig into this definition of the science of reading, take a look at why possessing a common understanding of this term is important, look at how the brain learns to read, and discuss the implications of the science of reading on instruction.

This session will be offered, free of charge, to District Administrators at the ARIN Central Office on July 13, 2022 from 9:00 AM - 12: 00PM.
