Teacher Mentor Training

This in-person session is designed for mentors
who did not participate in Steve Seward's Educator Mentoring training at HISD
on August 11, 2025 (even if you did join the later virtual sessions in the
series). In this session, participants will deepen their understanding of the
core skills and dispositions that support effective mentoring. Aligned to the
new Michigan Mentoring Standards, the series will focus on the what, why, and
how of mentoring, including relational trust, balancing support with accountability,
and using feedback to promote professional growth. Participants will reflect on
how communication, listening, and responsive coaching practices shape the
mentor-mentee relationship. This cohort will have follow-up virtual sessions
from 4PM-6PM on October 21, December 9, and February 17. Throughout the series,
mentors will strengthen their capacity to engage in intentional interactions
and provide meaningful support to novice educators.
