This
session on Explicit Instruction is based on the work of Dr. Anita Archer and
will explore three topics within the realm of explicit instruction. During our
time together we will cover what exactly defines explicit instruction, why it
is such a powerful tool for learning, gain insights around the what, why, and
how of effective active participation strategies, and finally, cover some best
practices when it comes to explicit vocabulary instruction and how those can be
used across grade levels and content areas. Teachers will be able to walk away
with strategies to use immediately within their classroom setting!
PLEASE NOTE: Two sessions will be offered: 8AM-11AM and
12PM-3PM. Participants will register for this training and will be notified of
their assigned session about one week prior. Local district administrators will
have the final authority on which session their teachers attend. The AM session
will include a semi-substantial breakfast offering with lunch available for the
PM session.
