Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) Learning Labs-Dundee Middle School (2026-2027)

Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) provides teachers insight into how mathematical ideas and thinking develops in students; in this Learning Lab series teachers will interact with CGI research and experience tools and practices that they'll be able to take into the classroom immediately. Some topics to be covered include research behind the progression of mathematical thinking, number sense routines such as problem strings, Desmos training for classroom instruction, 3 Act Math routines, and Building Thinking Classrooms framework of practices. Each session will be a half-day in-building learning during the school day, where part of the time teachers will take their learning and practice with their own students, culminating in the teacher using their own curricular resource to build a mini-lesson incorporating any of these tools or practices.
