Join the regional community of practice for secondary (grades 6-12) social studies teachers to improve teaching and learning, focusing on challenges in the classroom and innovative practices. Members will share ideas, strategies, and resources, offer feedback and engage in professional learning, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This collaboration will strengthen individual practices and the school community, leading to positive educational outcomes.
Agenda: 9 a.m. - Welcome, Introductions, checking in 9:30 - Noon - Community of practice in action: Set up/context, reflect & share, discuss & practice, closure. Noon: Lunch 12:30 - Shared Learning Block. Topics may include but are not limited to: Developing literacy skills in the social studies classroom, Inquiry-Based instruction, Cross-Disciplinary instruction, and the C3 Framework. 2:00 - Round Table: Emerging Issues in Social Studies Instruction 2:45 - Closure: State/National Updates, meeting evaluation

Learning Outcomes:
-Connection: creating rich opportunities for participants in the Community of Practice to make meaningful and sustained connections.
-Purposeful Practice: The group provides tangible ways to take insights and put them into practice both in the group and in daily classroom instruction, using the group to share and reflect on learning and refine practice.
-Relevant Learning: Topics brought to the group are relevant and useful for daily application in the classroom, and speak to individual interests and real challenges faced by leaders and practitioners.
-Sharing and Reflection: Participants will share personal stories about what is and is not working and reflect on their learning with feedback from other participants.
