This workshop is geared towards K-12 grade classroom teachers, health, or physical educators covering the Michigan Model for Health Units for those grade levels. Michigan Model is an evidence-based prevention and social-emotional learning curriculum. It addresses the major health risk behaviors identified by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The elementary curriculum is organized by grade level and covers the following six main health topics with age-appropriate content per grade: social-emotional health, substance use prevention, safety, nutrition, physical activity, and personal health and wellness. Participants will receive access to the updated, digital Michigan Model for Health curriculum and have the option to receive materials kits at no cost to districts.
This training includes a 2 hour asynchronous online training and a 3 hour zoom workshop. Both must be completed to earn SCECHs (5 total).
The zoom workshop portion of the training is offered on the following dates:
-October 8, 2026
-January 7, 2027
Participants only need to attend one of the zoom workshops.
