In partnership with Asbury Woods, Stroud Water Research Center, Pennsylvania Sea Grant, and Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) Funded by a NOAA B-WET grant
This full-day workshop - Impact Through Inquiry: STEELS & MWEEs - prepares K–12 formal and nonformal educators in the Lake Erie watershed (Pennsylvania’s Erie and Crawford Counties) to design and facilitate Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) grounded in local environmental and watershed issues. Participants will engage in hands-on field investigations exploring Asbury Woods’ meadow and stream, data collection and analysis, and environmental action project planning that connects student learning to authentic community needs.
Educators will explore instructional strategies aligned to the PA STEELS standards and work directly with experienced MWEE facilitators from partner organizations. By the end of the session, participants will leave with the knowledge, confidence, and resources needed to implement a complete MWEE. Those who complete the MWEE 101 online module will also earn certification as Pennsylvania MWEE Ambassadors.
