This full-day professional
development workshop will deepen educators’ understanding of the Pennsylvania
STEELS Standards and effective pedagogy for three-dimensional, phenomena-based
science instruction across grade levels. Participants will:
• Explore instructional strategies
such as the 5E Model, Ambitious Science Teaching, modeling, productive
discourse, and Claim-Evidence-Reasoning.
• Analyze classroom assessments for
STEELS alignment.
• Engage in collaborative planning and
resource sharing to support ongoing implementation.
• Discuss statewide assessment updates
(PSSA, Keystone, Firefly) and implications for classroom practice.
The
session emphasizes hands-on learning, peer collaboration, and actionable
strategies to enhance student engagement and achievement.
