From Runoff to Real World Learning: A MWEE Ambassador Educator Workshop
|
|
This full day
professional learning experience prepares K–12 educators to design and
facilitate Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) grounded in
local Erie watershed issues. Participants will engage with environmental
scientists, engineers, and MWEE facilitators as they explore flood phenomena,
stormwater runoff, hidden creek systems, riparian buffers, and best management
practices (BMPs). Educators will participate in hands on field investigations,
engineering design challenges, and action project planning — including
opportunities to connect student learning to authentic community needs through
storm drain murals and local watershed stewardship efforts. By the end of the
workshop, educators will leave with the knowledge, confidence, and resources to
implement a full MWEE aligned to the PA STEELS and ELS standards.
