    TDA Sessions 2026-27

Ever read a stack of student TDA responses and struggle to pinpoint exactly what they need next? This training is built for you.

In this professional development, you will walk away with a clear, practical framework for understanding where every student in your classroom sits in their TDA writing journey, and more importantly, exactly what to do about it.

Using Pennsylvania's four-level learning progression: beginning, emerging, developing, and meeting, you will learn how to read student writing with a trained eye, identify specific strengths and gaps, and respond with targeted instruction that actually moves students forward. No more guessing. No more general feedback. Just precise, purposeful next steps grounded in what the writing is actually telling you.

Training is organized by grade span, grades 3 through 5 and grades 6 through 8, so everything you learn is directly applicable to the students sitting in your classroom right now.

You will leave these trainings knowing how to:

    • Analyze real student TDA writing samples at all four proficiency levels
    • Identify where students are struggling and why
    • Apply instructional strategies that push student comprehension, analysis, and writing to the next level
    • Connect TDA instruction to your existing curriculum in a way that feels natural and manageable

This is not a sit and get training. You will be looking at real student work, talking through real instructional decisions, and leaving with tools you can use in your classroom the very next day.

Five Act 48 hours are available for completion of each session.

2026-27 Sessions will be held at the ARIN Central Office from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM:

    • September 30, 2026
    • November 4, 2026
    • January 14, 2027
    • March 3, 2027

Please note: Separate registration is required for each session.
