This is a workshop to learn best practices in instruction, curriculum selection, & laws around reproductive health education and HIV prevention education in Michigan. The workshop covers updates around HIV and other STIs. At this workshop, 4th & 5th grade Michigan Model for Health HIV lessons are disseminated. Per the law, any teacher teaching HIV must go through this training prior to instruction. It is also strongly suggested that anyone teaching Sex Ed or HIV attend this training once every 5 years. This training is applicable for HIV prevention educators, puberty, or sex-educators teaching grades K-6.
This workshop is a one day training offered twice with different in-person locations:
November 2, 2022: In-person attendees will come to the Eastern Upper Peninsula ISD in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Virtual attendees will join via Zoom.
February 22, 2023: In person attendees will come to the Cheboygan-Otsego-Presque Isle ESD in Indian River, MI. Virtual attendees will join via Zoom.
Lunch will be provided for those who register 24 hours in advance.
