6062 SLD M.E.T Meet-Up
It is important to have consistency in how we identify students for special education and the quality of services that we provide to each student across our county. With new staff, new tests, and new understandings of intervention and learning disabilities, our Wayne County SLD Guidelines have new addendums and resources! This one day session will provide an opportunity for the MET teams to meet up and work up revised understandings on how to interpret evaluation data, intervention planning based understandings of student strengths and cognitive processing needs, and the opportunity to have improve the fidelity of our identification practices. Forums will be led by Wayne County representatives from our LD Workgroup, included Dr. Maria Sella, Flat Rock, Lisa Khoury, Grosse Pointe, Kristen Wrase, Dearborn, Takiyah Marks, Detroit Public Community Schools District, Joan DeSouza, Dearborn, John Claeys, Henry Ford Academy, and Jaclyn Tucker, Wayne Westland. Objectives for the day include updates on tools, timesavers, practices, and resources for SLD determination and intervention. The audience for this course includes the school psychologist, teacher consultant, resource teacher, speech and language therapist, and special education administrator. Whether you are a school district employee or contracted staff, this is important information! Plan to make a day in your schedule to attend.
