+Trauma Informed Classrooms 19/20-102
In our classrooms today, we have a unprecedented challenge in working with the impacts of trauma. This workshop is designed to not only address the question of How does trauma impact the brain, but also help educators understand What Now? Participants will understand what the characteristics of a Trauma Informed School are and how they can effectively bring practices into the classroom. The workshop will assist participants to self-reflection and stress management to allow them to respond to behaviors in a calm and grounded manner.
Target Audience
K-12 special ed and general ed teachers, administrators, counselors, social workers and school psychologists.
Learner Outcomes
1. Understand how trauma impacts student behavior and learning.
2. Develop strategies to increase self-awareness around responding to student behavior.
3. Develop classroom tools and supports to ensure that all students are able to learn in a safe and supportive environment that is trauma sensitive.
