*Planning & Supporting Productive Math Talk 17/18-401 12/05

Do your students struggle to know what to say in math class? Are you looking for ways to make sure all students are engaged in mathematical thinking? Are you interested in further developing your instructional practices that promote productive math talk in your classroom?

This one-day session will dig deep into the research-based recommendations and classroom-tried strategies for improving student discourse and maintaining cognitive demand through rich mathematical tasks. Connection will be made to Eureka Math lesson components.

We will explore the following:

•Establishing classroom structures and routines to support reluctant learners

• Selecting and preparing problems and rich tasks

• Planning for instructional strategies that promote student engagement, motivation, and achievement

You will leave “ready to use” instructional strategies and tools and an increased network of educators with which to collaborate.
