*Essential Instructional Practices/Strengthening Reading Instruction - K-1 16/17-304

The purpose of this training is for classroom teachers and school leadership teams to deepen their understanding of the Ten Essential Literacy Instructional Practices. On the first day of the two-day series, participants will receive an overview of the development of the ten essential instructional practices and will look more closely at the research behind student motivation and engagement, phonological awareness, alphabetic principle and small group instruction. In addition, participants will learn explicit instructional routines to support the implementation of the essential instructional practices needed to impact student outcomes. 

On the second day, classroom teachers and school leadership teams will continue to grow in their understanding of the Ten Essential Literacy Instructional Practices. Educators will dig deeper into the essential instructional practices around read-alouds and increased reading opportunities in the classroom, vocabulary and comprehension, and the importance of ongoing assessment and how the use of data, systems, and practices at the classroom level are paramount for an effective MTSS framework.

Grade K-1 Teachers, Coaches, Principals, Interventionists, Paraprofessionals and School Psychologists.
