Basic Conflict Mediation Training

The primary objective of this training is to equip school administrators with the skills and strategies necessary to effectively mediate conflicts among students, staff, and other stakeholders within the school community. By fostering a culture of constructive communication and conflict resolution, administrators can promote a positive school climate conducive to learning and collaboration.

Upon completion of the training, school administrators will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to effectively mediate conflicts, promote positive relationships, and foster a culture of respect and collaboration within their school communities. By serving as mediators and role models, administrators can contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students and staff.

Target Audience

School administrators who hold leadership positions within educational systems. These administrators play crucial roles in fostering a positive school climate, resolving conflicts, and promoting collaboration among students, staff, parents, and other stakeholders. They may include principals, assistant principals, deans, department heads, and district-level administrators responsible for overseeing school operations, student affairs, and discipline.

Learner Outcomes

1. Understand conflict as a crisis in human interaction.

2. Understand your own conflict experience and learn strategies to respond constructively. 

3. Learn the skills to listen well and deeply to what people are saying.

4. Understand how to accurately reflect and summarize people in conflict, helping them hear themselves and each other.

5. Learn how to support individuals in asking questions that open up party clarity and decision-making.

6. Learn how to facilitate conversation for those caught in conflict to help them make the best decisions they can, given the situation they face and the perspectives of others involved.
