6491 Pathways to K-5 Reading Proficiency (K-1)

In this series, participants will study essential instructional practices to enhance their capacity to guide and support K-5 students’ development toward grade level reading proficiency. Participants will explore key components of a balanced literacy program, including strategies for managing the literacy block, using assessment to guide instruction, differentiating instruction through small group instruction and one-to-one conferring, and developing specific strategies for accurate, fluent reading and deep comprehension of increasingly complex text. Included in this series are national literacy specialists, Stephanie Harvey, Dr. Gravity Goldberg, and Dr. Tanya Wright, who will share best practice instructional strategies for accelerating K-5 students’ growth in literacy toward career and college readiness. The intended audience is: K-1 teachers, literacy specialists/coaches and resource room teachers.
