6387 Transition and the IEP - Data Collection, Updates, and Discussion

This workshop is intended to provide an overview of 2017-18 transition requirements, effective IEP development and an opportunity for discussion.

NOTE: This is similar to the October 27, 2017 workshop.

Session Objectives:

- Understand the intent and requirements and IDEA 2004 for transition (SPP B-13), and how this guides our work in preparing students for post-school life.

- Provide any updates from recent MDE webinars and training.

- Review the new MDE B-13 Data Collection Process for 2017-18.

- Review a sample IEP for compliance.

- Discuss documentation requirements and related transition issues.

Larry Stemple, Transition and Compliance Consultant for Wayne RESA, will review the IEP and Transition Planning basics.  Participants are encouraged to bring tips and resources to share, as well as questions and concerns about transition IEP development and implementation.

Discussion topics include: Current information regarding the 2018 SPP B-13 IEP data collection, developing measurable annual IEP and measurable postsecondary goals. The audience for this workshop would be new and experienced secondary transition coordinators, special/general administrators, special/general education teachers, community partners, parents, and students.
