6108 Reaching Every Reader: Using Assessment to Design "Just Right" Instruction , K-3

To provide the differentiated instruction necessary to meet the early literacy needs of every student, K-3 teachers must be skilled in observing and recording early reading behaviors/strategies and analyzing and interpreting multiple data points to determine next steps for instruction. Workshop participants will explore key formative assessments, strategies to match each reader with “just right” texts and instructional learning targets, and specific prompts that facilitate young readers’ use of strategic actions to process text accurately and with comprehension. The intended audience for this workshop is teachers of grades K-3, literacy specialists/coaches, and resource room teachers.
