Event Details

Grades 2-3 Instructional Practices: MI K-12 Literacy & Dyslexia Law 26-27
This professional learning session, required by Michigan's Literacy and Dyslexia Law, builds educator capacity to implement evidence-based literacy practices. Participants will deepen their understanding of dyslexia characteristics and risk factors, learn instructional adjustments to support students with decoding difficulties, and explore evidence-based strategies that effectively support the literacy development of most learners.

This is a two-session series. Session one dates are either 12/2/26 or 12/17/26. Session two dates are either 3/2/27 or 3/17/27.
Target Audience
Grades 2-3 classroom teachers, interventionists, special education teachers
Learner Outcomes
Identify characteristics and risk factors of dyslexia, including common patterns related to phonological processing and word-level reading difficulties.

Recognize early indicators of decoding difficulties and understand how these may impact reading development.

Gain understanding about instructional adjustments, strategies, and supports that help students with dyslexia or those at risk access grade-level literacy instruction.
