Self-Paced Online: Selecting the Right SEL Curriculum for Your Emotional Support Classroom

This comprehensive course guides participants through evaluating, selecting, and implementing evidence-based SEL programs tailored to classroom and student needs. Participants will learn to audit curricula, apply feasibility frameworks, and embed daily instructional practices aligned with Pennsylvania standards.

 Cost & Continuing Education: No Fee - 3 Act 48 Hours available upon completion of all required course activities and the course evaluation.

Special education teachers, emotional support educators, and instructional leaders looking to implement effective Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies
Learner Outcomes
  • Navigate CASEL’s 3-step preparation process to align team goals, metrics, and program options.
  • Conduct comprehensive SEL curriculum audits to identify program strengths, gaps, and student alignment.
  • Apply the NIRN Hexagon Tool to evaluate SEL programs across six key domains: Need, Fit, Capacity, Evidence, Supports, and Usability.
  • Utilize the SEL 3 Signature Practices Playbook (Inclusive Welcome, Engaging Strategies, Intentional Close) to embed SEL seamlessly into daily classroom instruction.
  • Connect SEL implementation directly to PA Code Chapter 14 Emotional Support mandates and the PA Career Ready Skills continuum.
