AW 2026: Safety Training

This professional development program is designed to strengthen staff preparedness, consistency, and confidence in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment—an essential foundation for effective teaching and learning. During this training, educators will review the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) to ensure a shared understanding of common language, expectations, and procedures in emergency situations. Emphasis will be placed on clarity of roles and coordinated responses so that staff actions are consistent and effective across all settings.

Faculty will engage in scenario-based discussions that examine a range of realistic situations, allowing educators to apply the SRP, practice decision-making, and reflect on appropriate responses in both instructional and non-instructional contexts. These discussions will build situational awareness, reinforce calm and purposeful responses under pressure, and promote professional judgment aligned with school protocols.

The program will also include an active assailant drill, providing staff with hands-on experience in implementing safety procedures. Through this drill, educators will develop practical skills related to communication, movement, supervision of students, and collaboration with colleagues during high-stress situations.

As a result of this professional development, educators will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively to safety concerns, minimize disruption, and protect instructional time. A well-prepared staff contributes to a stable, orderly environment in which students feel safe, supported, and able to focus on learning. By strengthening safety practices, the school enhances both student well-being and the overall conditions necessary for high-quality instruction and student achievement.

As a result, all staff are prepared to respond consistently and effectively to safety situations, supporting a secure environment for learning.
