Universal screening of behavior is a research validated means to detect individual students or groups of students at risk of achieving poor learning outcomes and/or developing behavior problems. This session will focus on the rationale and benefits for the use of universal screening of behavior. Participants will discuss the characteristics of evidence based screeners and commercially available screening tools. A demonstration on how to organize intervention grids to provide supports to groups of students as well as individual students will also be provided.
- Identify the role of a universal screener for behavior within a multi-tiered system of support
- List characteristics of evidence based screeners for behavior
- Determine readiness of the LEA to implement universal behavior screeners
- Develop systems to create standardized intervention guides

Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
