This session will engage participants to help all students to develop algebraic thinking skills in young students. Participants will examine how establishing number sense and application of mathematical properties in the early grades relates to algebraic concepts they will encounter throughout mathematics and leading up to algebra.
Special Educators, Regular Educators, Math Supervisors and Coaches, Supervisors of Curriculum and Instruction.
Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
This session will support teachers´ instruction with the concept of mathematical quantities as they relate to early learners. Participants will utilize these foundational quantitative concepts to establish a consistent count sequence and one-to-one correspondence.
These concepts will also be connected to the mathematical practices.
Please note that if you do not provide us with your PPID we cannot award Act 48 NISL/PIL hours for your attendance.
