Craft, Code, Create: Designing Inventive Engineering Projects with Hummingbird Bit
|
|
This
professional development session introduces educators to the Hummingbird Bit
Premium Kit, a micro:bit powered robotics platform composed of lights, sensors,
motors, and flexible building components that allow students to design robots
from everyday materials. Participants will explore how the kit’s low floor,
high ceiling design supports all learners — enabling beginners to quickly build
functioning robots while offering advanced opportunities in coding,
engineering, and computational thinking. In partnership with TEQ, educators
will receive expert support in understanding the hardware, navigating MakeCode
programming, and accessing high quality instructional tools. Educators will
engage in a hands on introductory build, examine classroom ready curricular
resources, and learn strategies for integrating the kit into STEELS Technology
& Engineering standards and cross curricular projects.
