SET-C Special Education Teacher Collaborative

Designed for special education teachers in their first three years, yet valuable for all, this seven-part training series builds on the foundational knowledge gained in the Back to Basics full day session. Then, through engaging, half-day sessions spread throughout the year, participants will deepen their understanding of essential practices, evidence-based strategies, and resources to support student success.
This series provides an opportunity for educators to refine their skills, connect with colleagues, and apply evidence-based practices to improve student outcomes.

Learner Outcomes
|
Participants will leave the training with increased confidence, foundational knowledge, practical strategies, and access to resources needed to effectively support students with disabilities and implement high-quality special education services throughout the school year. They will develop a community of Special Education Professionals. Apply the Portrait of a Graduate framework to plan instruction and supports that promote long-term student success and postsecondary outcomes.
Develop and implement compliant, high-quality IEPs by utilizing best practices for present levels, goals, services, accommodations, and progress monitoring.
Incorporate Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to create accessible, engaging, and inclusive learning environments for students with diverse learning needs. Will become familiar with the START's CETA, a planning tool designed to help educators evaluate and strengthen classroom practices that support inclusive, effective learning environments for all students, particularly those with higher support needs. The CETA aligns with evidence-based practices, PBIS, UDL, and High-Leverage Practices, and helps teams identify strengths, set priorities for improvement, and monitor progress over time. It is intended for continuous improvement and professional growth
Identify instructional services and supports available within Jackson County and determine how to access and utilize them effectively.
Select and implement assistive technology tools that support student access, participation, independence, and achievement.
Recognize the role of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and apply strategies to support students with complex communication needs.
Locate and utilize county, district, and classroom resources to enhance instructional planning, collaboration, and student outcomes.
Build professional networks and collaborative partnerships with colleagues to strengthen special education practices and student support systems.
