Strong number sense is the foundation for developing confident, flexible, and fluent mathematicians. In this professional development session, participants will explore what number sense looks like across the elementary grades and why it plays such an important role in the development of mathematical understanding and fluency.

Target Audience

K–5 classroom teachers, mathematics interventionists, instructional coaches, special education teachers, Title I teachers, and other educators who support elementary students in developing number sense and mathematical fluency.

- Identify key components of number sense and explain how they contribute to students’ development of mathematical understanding and fluency.
