The Shift to Student Centered Learning Mini Conference

The PA Student-Centered Learning (SCL) Mini-Conference on January 20, 2026 is a full-day, hands-on professional learning experience designed to help educators deepen their understanding of student-led practices and translate them into meaningful action.

The day begins with networking and a keynote from Phil Heggenstaller, setting the stage for why student-centered learning matters now more than ever.

Participants then engage in a foundational workshop that introduces the PA Student-Centered Learning Blueprint and Navigator, explores real examples of student agency in action, and builds a shared understanding of what SCL looks like across schools. Two rounds of breakout sessions allow attendees to choose learning pathways—such as tech tools for agency, student voice, UDL and blended learning, curriculum design, and community-connected learning—ensuring personalized, relevant professional growth.

After lunch, the conference closes with an interactive station-rotation experience where educators synthesize their learning, share insights, and create actionable plans aligned to PASCL goals. By the end of the day, participants leave with ready-to-use resources, redesigned lessons, and concrete next steps to strengthen student-centered learning in their classrooms and schoolwide.
