This three-day course equips educators with evidence-based strategies to design high-quality learning environments, implement positive behavior interventions, cultivate family partnerships, and apply trauma-informed practices.
Day 1: Designing Positive Environments
- Focus: Analyzing and implementing proactive strategies to build high-quality classroom environments that encourage positive student behavior and minimize triggers for challenging conduct.
- Core Competencies Covered:
- Promoting nurturing relationships.
- Applying the foundational principles of behavior.
- Developing systematic plans for establishing, teaching, and monitoring behavioral expectations.
- Strategies for maximizing classroom structure.
Day 2: Positive Behavior Support and Family Partnership
- Focus: Boosting student motivation using structured positive reinforcement and active engagement systems while providing educators with practical techniques to manage and decrease negative behaviors. This session also highlights methods for establishing strong, collaborative partnerships with families.

- Actively engaging students instructionally.
- Strategies to increase appropriate behavior.
- Strategies to decrease inappropriate behavior.
- Effective family engagement strategies.
Day 3: Intensive Support & Trauma-informed Practices
- Focus: An advanced session providing tools to deploy targeted social-emotional supports and trauma-informed practices directly in the classroom. Educators will learn to design and utilize intensive behavioral interventions tailored for students who require deeper, individualized support.

Act 48 Credit Opportunity: 17 hours will be awarded for the 3 days
Participants can earn three hours of Act 48 credit by completing a job-embedded assignment. This requires creating, finalizing, and submitting a comprehensive, actionable classroom plan for positive behavior support based on the evidence-based practices learned throughout the course.
