This virtual, interactive 2-hour session equips SLPs with foundational and introductory knowledge of AAC, practical strategies for AAC implementation, and fostering collaboration with teams and families. Through case studies, reflective activities, and collaborative planning, participants will gain actionable insights to enhance children’s needs and communication outcomes.

Laura Slotkoff:

Laura Slotkoff is an occupational therapist (OT) and RESNA-certified assistive technology professional (ATP) with extensive experience providing evaluations and training on AT/AAC for preschool and school-age students with special needs. She currently works as AT Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the Temple TechOWL program, which provides AT and related services for people with disabilities throughout Pennsylvania.
Meng McLendon:

Meng McLendon is a speech-language pathologist who works at Temple University's Institute on Disabilities where she is a an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) services coordinator. In this role, Meng manages an early intervention grant with the City of Philadelphia to provide Assistive Technology (AT) consultations to parents, caregives, and service providers working with the early intervention populations (0-3 years and 3-5 years). Prior to joining the Institute on Disabilities Meng worked in the early intervention and public school settings providing direct speech therapy services.
