Introduction to Co-Teaching for Cooperating Teachers

St. Vrain is committed to growing and supporting the best talent.  Starting summer 2020, all cooperating teacher/student teacher placements will utilize a results-based co-teaching model in which a cooperating teacher and a teacher candidate work together with groups of students, sharing the planning, organization, delivery, and assessment, as well a the physical space.  Co-teaching leads to higher student achievement and stronger teacher preparation.

This hybrid class includes a one-hour Webex meeting and a Schoology component.  This course is a prerequisite for Implementing Co-Teaching:  Collaborating with My Teacher Candidate.

Cooperating Teachers will be able to do the following:

    • Articulate what co-teaching is/is not and why it has the potential to impact student-teacher practice and student achievement.
    • Identify the differences between the Co-Teaching and Traditional model in student teaching.
    • Distinguish among various models of co-teaching by comparing and contrasting attributes of each.
