Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
|
|
The
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course prepares individuals to provide
emergency medical care and transportation to critical and emergent patients who
access the EMS system. EMTs possess the fundamental knowledge and skills
necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients, ranging from
non-emergency and routine medical transports to life-threatening emergencies.
They function as integral members of a comprehensive EMS response system,
operating under medical oversight. EMTs perform interventions using the basic
equipment typically found on an ambulance, serving as a vital connection
between emergency scenes and the healthcare system. - The course consists of 176 hours of classroom/lab instruction,
plus 32 hours clinical externship
- Students should be a minimum of 18 years old and have a clean
background check and drug screen (scheduled at time of enrollment)
- Valid
Driver’s License or ID required
- High
School Diploma, GED, or Transcript required at the time of enrollment
- Vaccine
Record: It is important to have an updated vaccine record to ensure the
safety and well-being of all participants

Please note that a valid Driver’s License or ID along with a High School Diploma, GED, or Transcript is required at the time of enrollment.
In addition to the tuition and textbook, the following will also be required and must be completed prior to the start of the clinical sessions unless there is proof of a drug screen, background check, and fingerprinting within the last 12 months:
Drug Screen: $45 payable to Med-1
Background Check/Fingerprinting: $65 payable to Testing Site
For Certification, the exam fee is $104 payable directly to Pearson Vue.

If paying by cash or check, payment must be made within five business days of registration to secure your seat in the class. Please contact Thompson M-TEC to complete your transaction.
Remaining balance for tuition is due three weeks prior to start of class.
