STEM Integrated Learning Team (ILT), K-12

STEM (ILT) workshops will involve three major content pieces:

1. STEM Community Connections: Teachers will work with STEM professionals from the EUP MiSTEM Advisory Council to align STEM education with career paths.  Connections will be made to regional business/industry leaders, higher education institutions, non-profits, and government agencies who can help you to make real world connections for students in your classrooms.

2. Innovative STEM Programming: Teachers will work in collaborative PLC teams to apply Problem-Based Learning and Place-Based Learning Principles to develop integrated STEM lesson plans.

3. Mathematical Modeling Series - Dr. Robert Kipka, Lake Superior State University; Dana Case, Brimley Schools

- Teachers will learn how to use mathematical modeling to study animal populations.  Focus areas will include discrete-time models, stable equilibrium, dealing with large numbers, coding, and classroom connections.  This is an exciting math/science connection that was created through a teacher externship this summer.  Thank you to Dana Case and Robert Kipka for providing this opportunity.
