Non-Violent Crisis Intervention - Initial Certification

This initial training
is for individuals who have not been certified in Non-Violent Crisis
Intervention or have allowed their certification to lapse beyond the expiration
date shown on a previously-issued ®Blue Card from an NCI training. This program
emphasizes early intervention techniques for preventing and/or managing
disruptive behavior. Personal safety techniques, restraint and transport
techniques are also included. After
receiving this certification, the annual 3-hour Foundations of Non-Violent
Crisis Intervention refresher training is required to maintain certification.
Due to guidelines established by the Crisis Prevention Institute, Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 is only able to train employees of school districts within the IU8 counties of Bedford, Blair, Cambria and Somerset.
Individuals must arrive on time, participate, stay the entire session, and pass the tests to receive certification.
Casual dress - wear comfortable, non-slip shoes (no sandals)
Lunch on your own
Trainings will not be cancelled or delayed due to inclement weather unless a State of Emergency is declared.
Trainings may be cancelled due to low enrollment.
