Write Smart: Advancing Thinking in All Content Area: Featuring the Writing Revolution
This course provides participants with an introduction to the Hochman Method, a precise collection of step-by-step approaches for instructing expository writing that can be seamlessly incorporated into any subject matter. Specific techniques are unveiled to enhance the organization, logical flow, and clarity of students' written expression, beginning at the level of individual sentences. The focus then extends to crafting outlines, composing paragraphs, and constructing comprehensive compositions. Attendees will also gain insights into imparting effective practices for note-taking, summarization, and the revision process. Ample opportunities will be offered for hands-on practice and the generation of instructional activities, alongside the provision of constructive input from the workshop consultants. 
Target Audience

4th -12th Grade ELA, Social Studies,Science, Special Education, EL Teachers and Instructional Coaches

Learner Outcomes

Participants will: 

1. Become proficient in 10 sentence writing strategies that increase content learning.

2. Participate in strategies that help all students write quality summaries and increase skills in note-taking

3. Employ grammar skills to write high quality topic and concluding sentences

4. Build single paragraph outlines and multiple paragraph outlines from the foundation sentence strategies and using subject content material
